Enchanted Rock is located near Fredericksburg, Texas and is what Kylie & I like to call a “Texas Mountain.” It is certainly a great day trip for any and everyone.
Enchanted Rock has been a very special place for my family and I for years. We have been several times, but this was my first time going as not only an adult, but well, the only adult on the trip. For those of you who do not know, this sweet gem in all the pictures below is my cousin, Kylie. I have a very close relationship with my cousins, but especially this one. She is smart, quirky, sassy, funny, kind, and beautiful. I truly look at her as if she was my niece or little sister. I have been wanting to take Kylie here for quite some time, and this Spring Break we finally made that happen and it was the best day I’ve had in a long time.
Kylie – you are the reason I try be the best person I can be each and every day.
The dreams and hopes I have for your future are endless, my love.
We had quite the morning. We live in the Austin area, so we are approximately about an hour and forty-five minutes from Enchanted Rock. I decided we would leave around 6am as Enchanted Rock experiences a very large volume of visitors during school holidays. I knew it would be crazy busy and fill up quickly, so I wanted to get there when they opened, or not long after. Unfortunately, I lost signal at one point and missed a turn. It was quite funny at the moment, I turned to Kylie and said, “How long has the gps said continue for 13 miles?” And then we both put two and two together and laughed. We had went at least 10 miles past where we needed to turn so that was fun. Around 8:30am, we arrived in the line to get in. It was about a 45 minute wait just to get to the entrance to find out we didn’t make it in to their first rush, but were able to guarantee a spot for the afternoon at 1pm. I was thankful they hadn’t reached full capacity for the afternoon and decided we would just make the best out of the situation. Therefore, we spent our morning in Fredericksburg; we got brunch, walked around the park, and looked in some shops to kill some time.
After all that we headed back to Enchanted Rock and got back in line and FINALLY around 2pm, we were getting out of the car (woohoo!) and spent the rest of the afternoon hiking up and admiring the view.
For those interested in knowing, there is a cave at the top of Enchanted Rock. I have been through the cave at least twice, and it’s definitely a fun experience. I just didn’t have the guts to take Kylie on my own, but I hope one day in the future I’ll be able to take her again, but have my dad along for the ride as well because he knows the cave pretty well as he’s done it many times.
All in all this was a great day, and I couldn’t be more grateful to experience days like this with Kylie. It allows me to soak up this beautiful world God has created and also allow our relationship and bond to grow.
